This critical position oversees the work and evaluates the effectiveness of quality resources within the organization ensuring compliance with quality systems and engineering. Required Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree. Preferred engineering discipline in metallurgical, materials science or mechanical (in that order). Minimum five (5) years' experience managing quality and/or continuous improvement functions in the heavy manufacturing industry. Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Shows strong dedication to safety management and understands its crucial connection to quality. Brings extensive experience in external quality roles, particularly in successful implementation and management of quality systems in heavy manufacturing. Emphasizes diverse industrial exposure with a solid background in quality and process improvement. Proficient in disciplined, systematic problem-solving, including familiarity with A3/PDCA methods and optionally DMAIC. Skilled in deploying formal quality systems like ISO/TS, particularly in automotive quality standards. Proficient in enhancing the integrity and scope of process measurements. Experienced in working with customer and industry specifications, as well as new product launch processes like APQP and PPAP. Values best practices and benchmarking for continuous improvement. Prioritizes addressing customer-facing issues effectively. Maintains a strong presence on the shop floor, collaborating closely with line operators and personnel to understand current conditions and drive lasting improvements. Upholds high standards for excellence and is deeply committed to quality compliance. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, used for presentations, training, facilitating diverse groups, and leading Kaizen activities. Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Job Responsibilities: Leads a Quality team to meet quality goals and improvement plans. Guides technical strategies for market and product development, shaping overall business strategy and policies. Facilitates decision-making for business planning and key operational issues. Plans for product/service capabilities and process improvements. Drives initiatives to enhance processes and reduce complaints and waste. Manages activities and processes in the OES Lab, ensuring compliance and competency of lab operators. Ensures completion of quality audits and compliance with regulations. Promotes a culture of compliance among team and shop floor personnel.
