Job Title: Associate, Operations & Maintenance Department: Operations & Maintenance Reports to: Manager, Operations & Maintenance Direct Reports: 0 Date Posted: May 2024 Location: Houston, Austin, or College Station, TX Travel: 60% Position Purpose: This is a full-time, exempt position that will be reporting to the Manager, Operations & Maintenance. This individual will be responsible for the safe and reliable operations of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects across the U.S. The ideal candidate should have the ability to break down and solve practical problems in a fast-paced environment, be able to work well both independently and as part of a team, and be willing and able to respond to site emergencies as needed 24/7. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and conduct on-site orientations. Monitor third-party work to ensure adherence to KCE HSEQ policies and procedures as well as best practices and to ensure the proper operation, inspection & maintenance of the BESS is being carried out. Review all service reports for accuracy and ensure any outstanding items are followed to completion. Play a key role in the company safety program, both ensuring compliance and contributing to the continuous improvement of the program and culture within the organization. Participate in commissioning activities during construction to help ensure success of the projects. Assist, as appropriate, with the development and improvement of technical standards, maintenance guidelines and procedures, equipment manuals, outage procedures, operational protocols, environmental procedures, and other documents specifically dedicated to the energy storage business. Assist, as appropriate with the management of warranties, BESS components, spare parts, 3rd party service providers/contracts and other tasks related to the maintenance and monitoring of the energy storage fleet. Proactively identify areas for improvement to processes and procedures. Ensure all training is current and make recommendations for new training opportunities. Must be an active problem solver, charting system performance parameters to identify opportunities to improve plant performance. Ensure that all cases are entered into the Xfracas system, investigated and resolved in a timely manner. Assist Operations & Maintenance Manager with additional site duties as needed and appropriate. Work Experience & Requirements: At least 3 years of O&M site level experience with HV, MV, and LV systems. Solid technical background related to the battery storage or energy sector. Good knowledge of hardware and software utilized for asset monitoring is a plus. Proficient use of Office Suite required. Passion for energy storage and drive to become a technical expert in this revolutionary business. Ability and willingness to spend 8-10 hours driving, as and when required.
