Scheduled Hours: 40 Position Summary: The Operations & Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus. We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 11.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world’s highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management. As the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors. Job Description: Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Implements, plans, and prioritizes the vision of the WUSM Exterior Services Operations, the Public Realm Joint Planning Group, and the Civil, Landscape, and Grounds Manager on the WUSM/WUMC campus. Analyzes current conditions and anticipates the needs of the Exterior Services Operation. Monitors the day-to-day operations of the grounds, landscaping, irrigation, roads, and hardscapes. Performs daily inspections to ensure a safe, welcoming, healthy attractive overall appearance of the WUMC campus. Monitors new landscape enhancements and exterior improvement projects. Assists with identifying opportunities for future projects. Participates in the design, installation, and maintenance of landscape areas. Supports and interacts with campus contractors. Fosters close working relationships with OFMD facilities maintenance staff. Provides support to the Civil, Landscape, and Grounds Manager in tracking resources for daily operations. Provides input on budget for upcoming projects, existing maintenance, and equipment. Accounts for campus outdoor furnishings and physical assets. Performs high-level horticultural services related to the cultivation of flowers, shrubs, trees, and turf, including pruning, planting, fertilization, and Integrated Pest Management best practices. Assesses, operates, schedules, and services irrigation systems as needed. Assists with building strong working relationships with peers and campus partners on operational grounds-related matters. Develops, maintains, and promotes positive and professional relationships with internal staff. Represents the Civil, Landscape, and Grounds Project Manager as required. Performs snow and ice removal as needed to support campus contractors. Working Conditions: High noise environment. On-Call position. Exposure to chemicals. Requires protective devices.
