POSITION SUMMARY: Under supervision and direction from Painter II or Lead: Prep, sandblast, and apply protective and/or decorative paint finishes to prepared surfaces on a variety of products to meet specifications. Formulate, test, mix and apply liquid coatings to meet specifications. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: Follows all policies and guidelines regarding workplace safety and product quality. Preparation of surfaces for painting: includes sanding, cleaning off contaminants, and taping areas not to be painted. Reads and understands paint specifications and product data sheets for a variety of paint manufacturers. Selects and properly mixes paint for project according to specifications. Keeps work area, paint equipment, and tools clean, orderly and in good working condition. Contributes to division results and performance. Take care of internal and external customer needs and expectations. FORMAL EDUCATION - Required: High School Diploma or GED. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE - Required: Must be familiar with conventional and painting techniques specific to manufacturing needs. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, charts and schematics. Must be dependable and work effectively under pressure, often independently. Must be able to pass a yearly pulmonary function test. Preferred: Experience in a manufacturing 'job shop' environment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis. Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to climb and descend stairs. Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees. May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required. May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt. Work surfaces may include concrete. Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone. Experience: 1-3 years. Salary range: $34,000.00 - $54,500.00.
