Job Summary: The Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and improving processes and systems within the energy utility company. This role involves working on a wide range of projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and improving the overall effectiveness of energy production and distribution. The Industrial Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, implement innovative solutions, and ensure the sustainability and reliability of energy systems. Key Responsibilities: Process Analysis and Improvement: Analyze existing processes within energy production, transmission, and distribution to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Develop and implement strategies to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity. Use data analysis and simulation tools to model and evaluate the impact of proposed changes on overall system performance. Project Management: Lead and manage projects aimed at process improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency. Develop project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and maintenance, to implement process improvements and ensure successful project outcomes. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma: Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement in energy utility operations. Conduct root cause analysis, value stream mapping, and other Lean tools to identify and eliminate waste in processes. Lead or participate in Six Sigma projects to reduce variability and improve quality in energy production and distribution. Capacity Planning and Optimization: Assess current and future capacity requirements for energy production and distribution facilities. Develop and implement strategies to optimize the utilization of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials. Monitor and adjust capacity plans to ensure alignment with demand forecasts and business goals. Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce operational costs while maintaining or improving service quality. Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as energy conservation measures, process automation, and material optimization. Track and report on the financial impact of cost reduction initiatives and ensure that savings are realized. Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all process improvements and operational changes comply with safety regulations and environmental standards. Collaborate with the Safety and Environmental teams to integrate safety and sustainability considerations into process design and implementation. Conduct safety and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks associated with process changes. Quality Assurance and Control: Develop and implement quality control systems to ensure that energy production and distribution processes meet industry standards and customer expectations. Monitor and analyze quality data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement. Work with the Quality Assurance team to establish and maintain quality metrics and reporting systems. Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to process performance, efficiency, and cost. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management, highlighting key findings, recommendations, and the impact of implemented improvements. Use statistical analysis and modeling techniques to predict and improve process outcomes. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, including Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Finance, to align process improvement initiatives with company goals. Serve as a subject matter expert on industrial engineering principles and practices within the company. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure buy-in and support for process improvement initiatives. Research and Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in industrial engineering and energy management. Conduct research and development activities to explore new technologies and processes that can improve operational efficiency and sustainability. Recommend and implement innovative solutions that align with the company’s strategic objectives and enhance its competitive position. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, preferably within the energy or utility industry. Proven track record of leading process improvement initiatives and driving operational efficiency in an industrial setting. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Knowledge: Strong knowledge of industrial engineering principles, process optimization, and project management. Familiarity with energy production, transmission, and distribution processes and systems. Understanding of safety and environmental regulations related to energy utility operations. Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions. Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, Minitab, or similar programs. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Certifications: Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is highly desirable. Additional certifications related to industrial engineering, project management, or energy management are a plus. Technical Requirements: Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations. Familiarity with process simulation software, CAD tools, and ERP systems is advantageous. Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct site visits and inspections, which may involve working in various weather conditions, climbing ladders, and navigating industrial environments. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary. Working Conditions: The position may require occasional travel to project sites and facilities. Must be available for on-call support during critical project phases or operational changes.
