Staff Civil or Environmental Engineer - Portland, OR; Vancouver, WA; or Lake Oswego, OR Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a full-time Staff Civil or Environmental Engineer who is eager to lean into generalist work (civil site development design, brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation design, and stormwater system and treatment design) and explore the world of consulting. As our Staff Civil or Environmental Engineer, you will have the opportunity to engage in both fieldwork and office tasks, providing a dynamic and enriching experience. As our Staff Civil or Environmental Engineer, you will be at the forefront of both fieldwork and office operations, offering you the unique opportunity to experience the best of both environments. Your role will encompass a diverse range of responsibilities, including on-site construction oversight, ensuring that projects are constructed in accordance with our designs. You will engage in tasks such as CAD design, cost estimating, report writing, and stormwater modeling, gaining valuable hands-on experience. You will actively participate in various exciting projects that may include: Civil site design for a renewable fuel development In-water sediment remediation at a port Marine bulkhead design Stormwater treatment design for a timber products facility In collaboration with a licensed engineer, you will prepare engineering designs and specifications, support project bidding and contract solicitation, and assist in the development and implementation of proposals, scopes, schedules, and budgets. You will also incorporate detailed quality control reviews into your work and engage in discussions and negotiations with clients and regulatory agencies. Be prepared for a mixture of office work and fieldwork, especially during the summer months, and enjoy the balance of working independently and within teams, while seeking guidance from mentors. To thrive in this role, you must have BS in civil engineering or environmental engineering. 2 years of experience in consulting. EIT Certification. Interest in working in the consulting environment on projects involving site development design, brownfield redevelopment, environmental remediation design, hydraulics and hydrology, and stormwater system and treatment design. Sound technical capabilities and organizational and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as report writing will be part of your regular tasks. Aptitude for using AutoCAD design software, specifically Civil 3D. Ability to drive and willingness to travel occasionally to regional projects. Ability to perform physical duties including, but not limited to, lifting, use of respiratory equipment and other protective gear, and traversing rough terrain. Ability to effectively work as a team member, both individually and collaboratively, delivering a project successfully to a client within the scope, schedule, budget.
