The Commercial & Business Development Analyst role is an integral part of the Commercial & Business Development (C&BD) team and reports into the Director of Commercial & Business Development. The role supports both the commercial and business development disciplines and is a key contributor to the success of identifying and closing commercial deals and supporting development of large-capital projects and M&A opportunities. The C&BD Analyst role researches commodities and their respective trade flows, competitor market activity, and macro-trends in the energy sector. Time will be devoted to researching sales leads, developing business strategies, and conducting financial investment analysis using discounted cash flow models. Strong analytical skills and business acumen, with the ability to evaluate and model financial data, interpret complex information, derive actionable insights, and make informed strategic recommendations. Intermediate to Expert-level Excel skills are essential. Intermediate to Expert-level Powerpoint skills are essential. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization. Attention to detail and accuracy in analysis, reporting, and documentation. Your core responsibilities are: Conduct thorough market research and analysis, identifying emerging trends and growth opportunities within target markets. Collaborate with the Business Development Manager in crafting and refining strategic growth initiatives. Assist in the creation of compelling business proposals, presentations, and pitch materials for potential clients or partners, synthesizing complex data into actionable insights. Perform comprehensive financial analysis to support commercial contract negotiations, business development projects, strategic decision-making, and evaluation of potential M&A opportunities. Establish KPIs and metrics to track the effectiveness of business development initiatives, providing regular reports and insights to stakeholders. Foster strong cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment and coordination of business development efforts. Manage the strategic planning calendar including the scheduling of all executive-level meetings. Manage the development and maintenance of departmental databases and periodical reports. Develop, maintain and monitor basic project plans and deliverables. Support proposal generation by sharing research and intel to develop solutions. Prepare and edit internal presentations to support critical decision making by senior management. Prepare all materials in support of the enterprise planning process and assist in the development of sales proposals and presentations. Liaison with various business units as determined by the manager for specific projects. Coordinate and participate in strategy meeting conference calls with sales and underwriting.
