Job ResponsibilitiesAre you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career? TheSouth Carolina Office of Resilience in the Disaster Recovery Division is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.Responsibilities of the Environmental Health Manager Ill Assist the Data Coordination Manager in development and maintenance of data to support the South Carolina Strategic Risk Reduction and Resilience Plan. Collects and evaluates technical information related to flooding and other extreme weather events. Review and evaluate environmental models and other hydrological information and report on their relevance to the resilience planning effort. Participates in meetings and public hearings related for the purpose if making recommendations and explaining the plan.
- Review technical information related to environmental quality, flooding and climate related events. Review and evaluate environmental models and report on their relevance to the Resilience planning effort.
- Assist the Section manager in identifying vulnerabilities climate related events through the evaluation of technical environmental information and developing recommendations to attenuate those risk.
- Assist in data assessment for the development and maintenance of the South Carolina Strategic Risk Reduction and Resilience Plan.
- Participate in meeting and public hearings related to the planning process.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, environmental science or related technical field and one year of experience in conducting environmental investigations.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of principles and practices utilized in environmental investigations.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws related to the area of program responsibility.
- Skill in the use of instruments, tools and equipment utilized in environmental investigations.
- Ability to interpret environmental data for the purpose of recommending rules, regulations and policies.
- Ability to work independently on environmental investigations.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and direct complex environmental and maintain working relationships with staff and the general public.
- Position may require overnight travel.
- Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
- Position may be required to work during emergency situations.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment, but travel and field work will be required in areas where there are some risks and hazards that are known predictable and comfortable.
