This Metrology Engineer will work as a subject matter expert in metrology systems and be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and precision of measurement systems and instruments used in our manufacturing processes. This role involves developing and maintaining calibration procedures, designing new tools or systems of measurement, and analyzing data to support quality assurance and compliance with industry standards. This is an onsite position at our facility in Tallahassee, FL. We will offer relocation assistance for this position. Job Responsibilities Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to, the following: Work as subject matter expert for instruments and gages to troubleshoot measurement-related issues from process and equipment. Lead metrology development projects, including new instrumentation and methods. Investigate advanced metrology methods, including CMMs, vision systems, roundness testers, and gaging methods. Provide CMM PCDMIS Offline and online programming support to individuals performing inspections. Mentor and lead a team of quality inspectors and track KPI’s of processes. Improve Metrology Lab performance by reducing the lead time for incoming inspection, in process inspection and PPAP inspection. Develop visual aids and new software to prioritize incoming inspections. Participate in the development of a quality Plan with the Engineering and supplier quality team. Coordinate, create, and modify inspection routines on CMM for current and new components. Participate in the creation of manufacturing process and equipment qualification validation plans, validation protocols and reports, and their implementation. Design jigs and fixtures for job setup during inspection and reduce inspection time. Partnering with metrology equipment vendors on continuous improvement of software/hardware and development of new measurement techniques. Optimizing and maintaining the calibration of metrology systems. Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics. Train inspectors on how to run CMM with limited operator interaction. Perform gauge studies, GR & R’s (attribute and variables). Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Engineering • 4 years of experience with a thorough understanding of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) • Preferred Machining background or experience in the machining industry. • Advanced Proficiency and experience in CMM Programming, troubleshooting, and validating CMM with PCDMIS/ Calypso/Camio. • Knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and tools used to determine product acceptance with accuracy and precision. • Proficient in set-up and operation of inspection equipment, and metrology methods/technology. • Experience with statistical analysis and quality control methodologies. • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 standards. • Training or experience in the knowledge and application of PPAP, FMEA, Lean/Six Sigma, ISO-9001/14001, IATF 16949, GD&T, Capability Analysis, Corrective Action Tools, Design for Manufacturability, and Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Word), Power Automate and Power Bi.
