ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGIST BB&E is a full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors. Position Summary BB&E is currently looking for a Project Geologist, Hydrogeologist, and Environmental Scientist to support industrial and federal environmental remediation projects and programs in either our Atlanta, GA or Northville, MI office. Job Duties & Responsibilities Support Project Managers with planning and execution of various projects. Provide site investigation support, including Phase II ESAs, preliminary assessments, site inspections, and remedial investigations. Oversee drilling subcontractors during the advancement of soil borings, monitoring well installations, and other investigating activities. Direct subcontractors to perform work as outlined in the project-specific work plans. Conduct soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater sampling activities. Screen and log soil and rock cores during drilling operations. Use field instrumentation (e.g., PID, YSI, Horriba, turbidity meter, water level meter, iron kit, various pumps [e.g., peristaltic, bladder, submersible, etc.]). Conduct and evaluate pump tests and slug tests. Track, document, and make decisions during field activities. Interpret analytical laboratory and geologic data and prepare reports documenting the work performed, results, and findings. Perform assigned work in accordance with project schedules, plans, and budgets. Support the following: preparing scopes of work, plans, and instructions for project teams and contractors; planning and managing remediation and restoration projects; reviewing and managing project data for reporting. Travel up to 70% of the time to perform investigation and remediation fieldwork. Key Qualifications Ability to successfully pass a federal agency background check is required. Knowledge: Ability to collect and organize project data, conduct analysis, prepare reports, and provide recommendations without assistance. Experience conducting and leading field investigations and remediation implementation. Experience overseeing drilling operations using a variety of drilling technologies (e.g., DPT, sonic, HSA, etc.). Experience logging soil and rock cores in accordance with ASTM methodologies. Technical writing experience. Field work experience (e.g., soil, sediment, surface water, storm water, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling including experience with PFAS) is preferred. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to problem solve and function as a member of a team. Experience & Education Experience: 4-8 years' related experience as environmental professional, including managing and overseeing multi-functional field teams, is required. Certification and Training: GIT/PG or EIT/PE is required; 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required; OSHA Supervisor Training is preferred; OSHA Construction and General Industry 30-Hour Training is preferred. Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in science or applicable Engineering (Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Geological Engineering) or other related areas is required; advanced science or engineering degree preferred. Physical Requirements Must be able to pass drug testing. Must be able to travel up to 70% of the time with zero limitations related to traveling, including working from one of the two offices Monday through Friday when not in the field. Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for extended periods for multiple days/weeks. Additional Requirements Able to operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc. Capable of light lifting, up to 50 lbs. Working conditions: Able to work both indoor/outdoor (with exposure to the elements). Able to walk/climb/knee/crouch and reach. Able to work on rough terrain when necessary. Able to work in confined spaces and/or heights. Able to wear the required PPE, minimally use gloves, a hard hat, a respirator, and steel-toe boots that may be in combination with protective clothing/suits, a respirator, and/or a fall restraint/recovery harness.
